Before you buy

All questions

Will it fit my vehicle?

We check our live inventory by year, make, model and engine or transmission code, and your VIN when you have it. Before you pay, your specialist tells you exactly which vehicle the part came from so you and your mechanic can check it too. If we send the wrong part, we cover return freight.

How do you verify compatibility?

We decode your VIN to confirm the factory engine or transmission code, then compare it with the donor vehicle the part came from. If anything doesn’t line up, we tell you before you order.

Is it OEM?

Yes. We sell used original-equipment (OEM) engines and transmissions removed from donor vehicles. They are not aftermarket or rebuilt units unless your quote says so.

How many miles does it have?

Where the yard records it, we give you the donor vehicle’s mileage with your quote. Mileage on used parts is reported by the yard and can’t be guaranteed, which is why we also tell you the condition grade.

What does the warranty cover?

Our standard coverage is a 3-year parts warranty. The warranty that applies to your part is written on your quote and invoice. It covers the core internal parts. Bolt-on accessories, sensors, wiring and labor are not covered. See the warranty page for the installation requirements.

What comes with an engine?

The block, cylinder head(s) and internal parts: pistons, crankshaft, camshaft(s), rods, bearings, valves and oil pump. Some engines arrive with manifolds, sensors or other bolt-on parts still attached. Those are a bonus, not guaranteed, and not under warranty.

What comes with a transmission?

The transmission assembly as removed from the donor vehicle. Whether a torque converter, transfer case (4WD) or wiring is included depends on the unit. Your specialist tells you, and it’s written on your quote.

How quickly can it arrive?

Most orders arrive in 5–7 business days after your order is confirmed. You get a tracking number when it ships.

Can I return it?

Yes, within 30 days of delivery if it hasn’t been installed or taken apart. If we made a mistake, return freight is on us. If you ordered the wrong part or changed your mind, there’s a 25% restocking fee and you pay freight.

What happens if it arrives damaged?

Look it over before you sign for it. Write any damage on the delivery receipt, take photos, and contact us right away. We cover return freight and send a replacement or a refund.

What happens if it doesn’t fit?

If it’s our mistake, we pay return freight and you choose a replacement or a full refund. If the wrong part was ordered, you can still return it uninstalled within 30 days (25% restocking fee plus freight). Sending us your VIN before ordering avoids this.

Can I finance it?

Ask your specialist about the payment options available for your order.

Can I talk to someone before ordering?

Yes. You’ll speak with a parts specialist who can check fit, availability, price, warranty and delivery for your vehicle. Call (972) 886-5001 (Mon–Sat, 8am–6pm Central).

Where does the part come from?

From our live inventory across the Yards & Parts network. We tell you which vehicle it came from, and it ships from the nearest warehouse to you or your repair shop.

Why buy through Yards & Parts instead of a local yard?

Yards & Parts is a network of nearly 5,000 junkyards nationwide. Our live inventory covers the whole network instead of one yard’s lot, and you get help confirming fit plus the price, mileage and warranty in writing before you pay.

How do I know you’re a real company?

Yards & Parts Inc. is a registered U.S. company at 9801 Westheimer Rd, Suite 444, Houston, TX 77042. You get a written quote before you pay, and you can call us first. Call (972) 886-5001 (Mon–Sat, 8am–6pm Central).
